COLUMBUS - Father knows best.
At least that's how Norm and Kay Rex of Ada feel.
Norm's father, Dick, instilled an importance of community service when Norm was quite young and it stuck with him all these years.
"I remember him coming home one time and I asked him, ‘Why are you doing this?'" said Norm, whose father was involved at the fire station and in village government. "In essence, Dad told me, ‘If not you, then who?' I've really modeled that and used that as a goal for the way we should approach our lives."

FOREST - By the end of the month, the village of Forest could increase in size by approximately 50 percent and will extend into Wyandot County.
Council scheduled a special meeting on Feb. 28 to consider an ordinance which would annex 284 acres of ground into the village for the construction of an industrial park.
The Lincoln Way Industrial Park would be located north of the village and extend into Wyandot County.
Village administrator Charles Brunkhart said the village has applied for state funding to develop the site with ditches and streets.
"This might benefit us greatly," said Mayor David Hankins. "With the demographic where this sits, I don't see where it could hurt us."

McGUFFEY - "We, not me."
That's the motto Upper Scioto Valley girls basketball team adopted during the preseason.
And the Rams have embraced this team concept and ran with it as their chemistry has helped carry them to 18 straight wins and an unbeaten regular season heading into Saturday's sectional final game with rival Ada at Lima Bath.
USV coach Brenda Mullins said that while expecting her team to win its share of games, even she has been impressed with what her girls have done on the court.
