KMS eighth graders win Bath Tourney

LIMA - The eighth grade Kenton boys basketball team defeated Defiance 56-54 in overtime to capture its first ever Ron Dixon Memorial Tournament at Bath Middle School.
After the Wildcats jumped out to a quick 18-9 first quarter lead, the Bulldogs went on a run of their own to close the gap to 28-24 at halftime.
At the end of the third quarter the Wildcats were holding on to a three-point lead. During the fourth quarter the Bulldogs were able to tie the game and force overtime.
But the Wildcats were just too much for Defiance to handle as they jumped to a quick five-point lead in overtime and held on for the win.
Maty Mauk led the scoring with 26 points, with five of his baskets being three-pointers. Brennan Rolander was second in scoring with 14 points, followed by Brice Fackler with 8 points, Sean Kelly with 6 and Kasey Rawlins with 2.
The Wildcats ended the season by going on a 14-game win streak and a season record of 15-4.
Over the course of the last two seasons this team has had a record of 31-5. A special thanks to all of the fans for the great support they showed during the tournament, said coach Ryan Miller.
