Celina cruises past Lady Wildcats
CELINA - It was another difficult night for the Kenton girls basketball team as it fell 79-17 at Celina on Thursday.
Kenton drops to 0-14.
Celina’s Cenzie Yoder had a game-high 20 points while Abbey Welker added 13 points and Kelsey Waterman scored 11. Kenton’s Abby Heilman finished with a team-high five points.
Celina stormed out of the gates early, leading 22-2 after the opening quarter. The peak of the Wildcats'offense came in the second where they scored 10 of their points. Celina took a 41-12 lead into the break and continued its dominance the rest of the way.
Kenton hosts Hardin Northern on Saturday.

Lady Polar Bears have tough time with P-G
PANDORA - Hardin Northern couldn’t overcome a rough start as it fell at Pandora-Gilboa 89-25 Thursday night in girls basketball action.
The Polar Bears fall to 2-13 overall on the season and 0-7 in Blanchard Valley Conference play.
Four Rockets finished in double figures. Jessica Lehman led the way with a game-high 24 points, all on three-pointers. Stephanie Recker had 15 points, Taylor Hermiller scored 14 and Megan Gerdeman added 12.
Hardin Northern’s Ashley Poe led her club with 14 points.
Pandora-Gilboa held a 26-2 lead as the first quarter came to a close and extended that advantage to 43-10 by halftime. The Rockets put it well out of reach in the third, outscoring the Polar Bears 23-6.
Hardin Northern’s junior varsity lost 44-17. The Polar Bears travel to Kenton Saturday night.

USV to host 5th and 6th grade tourneys
McGUFFEY - The annual Upper Scioto Valley boys and girls 5th and 6th grade basketball tournaments will be held in the coming months.
The 14th annual boys tournament takes place Feb. 28 and March 1-2 while the 12th annual girls tournament will be held March 7-9.
Teams must consist of players representing the school which they attend. No All-Star or AAU teams are allowed. Cost is $75 per team and checks can be made payable to USV Athletic Boosters.
Registration and payment deadline for the boys tournament is Monday, Feb. 14. Deadline for the girls is Monday, Feb. 21. Registration forms are available at www.usv.k12.oh.us under Athletics. Rules and tournament brackets will also be posted on this site prior to each tournament weekend. Please check the website for updates as well.
