Services for Samuel G. Dearth will be 1 p.m. Monday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home in Ada by Pastor Robert Dye. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ada with graveside military rites conducted by Ada VFW Post 9381.
Friends may call 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday.
He died at 11:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born May 20, 1932, in Hardin County to Joseph Benson and Velva Lorena (Hall) Dearth. On June 4, 1955, he married Emma J. Baldridge and she preceded him in death on May 7, 2000.
Surviving are two sons, Dean (Julie) Dearth of Roundhead and Dave Dearth of Ada; two daughters, Cheryl Dye and Charlene (Rick) Hughes, both of Ada; a sister, Juanita R. (Phillip) Merriman of Lima; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Edwin K. Dearth, Clarence “Joe” Dearth and Robert Dearth and a sister, Mary M. Curl.
He was a retired roofer who worked for the Roofers Local 86 of Lima.
He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War. He was a life member of the VFW Post 9381 of Ada.

Spradlin

Services for Vivian J. Spradlin will be 11 a.m. Monday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home in Alger by the Rev. David Trusty and Charles Berry. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday and until the time of services Monday.
She died at 3:20 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus.
She was born July 22, 1932, in Hardin County to Rockford “Rocky” and Bertha (Baughman) Cochrane and both preceded her in death. On July 2, 1954, she married Ralph M. Spradlin and he survives at Indian Lake.
Also surviving are a mother-in-law, Emma Spradlin of McGuffey; two granddaughters, Jessica Spradlin and Brianna Gentry, both of McGuffey and a great-grandchild, Adrian.
She was preceded in death by a son, James M. Spradlin; a daughter-in-law, Linda Spradlin and three brothers, Roger, Joe and John Cochrane.
She was retired from Richland Manor Nursing Home in Bluffton, where she had worked as a nurses aide.
She attended the Freewill Baptist Church of McGuffey and was an EMT volunteer. She was a member of the McGuffey Town Council and served on the USV EMT Board of Directors.
Vivian loved her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
