Services for Clair E. Hartman will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jenera by the Revs. Alois Schmitzer III and Jeffrey Bolwerk. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
Friends may call 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Crates Funeral Home in Arlington.
He died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at the Hospice Care Center in Findlay.
He was born Nov. 8, 1932, in Eagle Township, Hancock County to Emanuel E. and Mabel (Caris) Hartman. On May 26, 1957, he married Jonna L. Beach and she survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Mark Hartman and Matthew Hartman, both of rural Rawson and Michael (Nicole) Hartman of Hilliard; two daughters, Janet (Don) Dukes and Joyce (Tim) Falk, both of Bluffton; three grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond "Pete" Hartman of Kenton and Forrest (Rachel) Hartman of Arlington.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Donavan, Harold and Dale Hartman.
He was a farmer who owned and operated Dixie Farms. He also worked for 30 years for The Courier, retiring in 1988.
He was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jenera and a 1951 graduate of Arlington High School.
A veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he was stationed two years in Germany.

Services for Dorothy E. Phillips will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5 at Eichholtz Funeral Home in Belle Center by Pastor David C. Hawthorne. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Belle Center.
Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Thursday.
She died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at the Kenton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born June 18, 1925, in Kenton to Willis and Anna Hayes Klingler. On Oct. 22, 1944, she married Richard Phillips and he preceded her in death on April 12, 1990.
Surviving are two sons, Larry (Linda) Phillips of Belle Center and David (Peggy) Phillips of Bellefontaine; eight grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Willis "Willy" Klingler.
She was a homemaker and a member of he Belle Center Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and the Kenton VFW.
