Services for Richard Wayne Dyer will be at a later date at the Lawson Roessner Funeral Home in Defiance.
He died at 3 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2008 at the Brookview Nursing Home in Defiance, where he had lived for four years.
He was born April 28, 1947 in Lima to Richard Joseph and Thelma Jewel (Lovely) Dyer of McGuffey. He married Jean Dyer, originally of Payne and they were married for 43 years.
Surviving are a daughter, Kara (Dyer) Combs, Peralta, New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by three children, Laura Kay Dyer, Kalin Wayne Dyer and Kimbery Ruth Weible.
He worked as a quality control manager at various manufacturing jobs over the past 40 years.
He had many ideas for various inventions, liked reading and discussing solar power and electric cars.
He loved listiening to Christian music, such as The Cathedrals, the Blackwood Brothers, etc. and he had a wonderful singing voice. He was often asked to sing at church and was always singing around home when he was with family and friends.
He attended the Abiding By Faith Assembly Church in Findlay.

Memorial services for Dr. E. Alan Sadurski will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the Crossroads Church of God, 775 S. Thayer Rd., Lima by Pastor Randall Bargerstock. A memorial service and burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel of the Psalms, White Chapel Cemetery, 621 West Long Lake Rd., Troy, Michigan.
Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Hanson-Neely Funeral Home in Ada and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
He died at 11:40 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2008 at the Richland Manor in Bluffton after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born June 12, 1949 in Detroit, Mich. to Edward Stanley and Catherine (Diehl) Sadurski and his mother survives in Troy, Michigan. On Feb. 26, 2000, he married Gailyn Klem and she survives in Ada.
Also surviving are a son, Stephen Edward (Rachel) Saduski of Tipp City; two step-sons, Jason David Klem and Matthew Christian Klem, both of Phoeniz, Arizona; a daughter, Anna (Greg) Heier of Columbus; sister-in-law, Lori (Stan) Karcz of Plainfield, Ill.’ a brother-in-law, Doug (Holly) Sowter of Lisle, Ill; and three grandchildren.
He lived in Ada for the past 28 years.
He attended the Cass High School in Detroit, Michigan and went on to receive his bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Oakland University in Oakland, Michigan in 1971. He earned his doctorate from the University of Michigan’s Wayne State University in 1978.
He was a visitng assistant professor at Miami University in Ohio during 1979-1980, a graduate teaching assistant at Wayne State University from 1972-1975 and an instructor at Michigan Christian College (now Rochester Christian College) from 1970-1972. He has been a tenured professor of chemistry at Ohio Northern University for the past 28 years.
He was active member of the Lima Symphony Chorus, Bluffton Chorale, Concentus, Springfield Choral Arts and the ONU Men’s Chorus. He also played trumpet and had played in the ONU jazz ensemble and performed with the Salvation Army Staff Band in Colorado.
He was a member of the American Chemical Society since 1996 and the Crossroads Church of God.
