Services for Clyde R. Bell will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bringman Clark Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky by the Rev. Tim Benjamin. Burial will be in the Chandler Cemetery, Marseilles with full military graveside rites conducted by local veterans.
Friends may call 3-8 p.m. Tuesday.
He died at 9:45 p.m. Friday Aug. 1, 2008, in the Fairhaven Health Care Community, Upper Sandusky.
He was born Nov. 10, 1922, in Marseilles Township, to Merle O. Bell and Emma B. (Naus) Bell. They both preceded him in death. He married Ardena E. James on June 16, 1943, and she survives in Upper Sandusky.
Also surviving is a daughter Andra Bell of Upper Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by a son, Allan Bell, who died May 14, 1963; four brothers, Chester, Lewis, Robert, Darwin and four sisters Lena Clark, Lucille Johnson, Thelma Haner and his twin sister, Clarice Wagner.
He attended Marseilles United Methodist Church all of his life. He served on the church council and was a Sunday school teacher for Gleaner class for many years. He graduated in 1941 from Marseilles High School. He was a World War II veteran serving in U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the former American Legion in Marseilles. He retired as a Marseilles Township grain, livestock and dairy farmer.
He enjoyed the fruits of his farm labor, serving his country and community. He was elected as a Wyandot County Commissioner for eight years, Marseilles Township Trustee for 8 years and the Marseilles School Board for eight years. He gave of his time and talents to the Wyandot County fair where he has been honored for his dedicated service of over 35 years to the Wyandot County Agricultural Society.
His thrill of life has been watching Lady Ram basketball as his daughter Andra coached for 34 years. He also enjoyed watching boys basketball and football. Early in life he played on several baseball and softball leagues. He was an Ohio licensed official where he referred football for 20 years and basketball for 25 years.
His hobbies included woodworking, fixing anything that was broken, plowing snow, traveling to the Marseilles coffee clatch every morning, horse shoe pitching, and watching OSU football and basketball and Cincinnati Reds. He looked forward to hunting particularly on Thanksgiving Day with family and friends.
He was a very proud man who hid his pain but through his affectionate blue eyes you could see his heart felt the death of his son, Allan, but through this experience he always had encouraging words for young athletes.

Hackworth

Lakeview
A memorial service for Woodrow J. "JR" Hackworth will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Assembly of God Church, Alger.
He died early Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at his home.
He was born Feb. 4, 1946, in Paintsville, Ky., to the late Woodrow Hackworth and Hazel Conley Woodbury, who resides in McClure. On Dec. 5, 1963, he married Janet Hall in Waverly and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Rhonda Sheldon of Russells Point and Terri (Mark) Born of Forest; a son, Craig Hackworth of Carey; seven grandchildren, Aaron, Jared and Cynthia Sheldon, Presley Hoover, Morgan and T. Colin McKinniss, and Owen Hackworth; two sisters: Ellen (Charles) Treen of Grand Rapids and Carolyn (Robert) Babcock of McClure; three brothers, John (Shirley) Hackworth of McDermott, Floyd (Lila) Hackworth of Minford and Michael (Donna) Hackworth of Weston and several nieces and nephews.

Hanawalt

Graveside services for Robert C. Hanawalt will be at a later date in the McDonald Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Price Funeral Home in Mount Victory.
He died at 11:14 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Kenton.
He was born Aug. 27, 1949, in Columbus to Robert Charles and Frances Patricia (Shropshire) Hanawalt. On Nov. 13, 1982, he married his loving wife of 25 years, Patricia Steele and she survives in Mount Victory.
Also surviving are two daughters, Jacqueline (Dee) Allen of Chesapeake, Va., and Patricia (Bill) Martin of Ostrander and a brother, Bill Hanawalt of Zanesfield.
He was a truck driver for Ryder.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served two tours in Vietnam. He was a lifetime member of the VFW at Milford Center. He was the commander of his tank and a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Tank Association and the Veterans Motorcycle Club.
He was a member of the POW/MIA Association and until the day he died, he wore a POW bracelet for a veteran who did not return home.

Graveside services for Clair B. "Pete" Heath will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grove Cemetery in Kenton by the Rev. Scott Johnson.
There will be no visitation.
He died at 10:32 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born Feb. 15, 1924, in Hardin County to Millard and Mable (Broceus) Heath. On July 5, 1958, he married Nancy Ash and she survives.
Also surviving are a son, Brian Heath of Kenton and two daughters, Kim (Mike) Templeman of Albany, Ore. and Susan Heath of Kenton.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Warren and Harold.
He was a 1942 graduate of Kenton High School and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was an accountant for Sacramento State University for 32 years.
He moved to Kenton five years ago from Sacramento, Calif.

She died at 10:33 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine.
She was born Nov. 26, 1916, in Uniopolis. On May 11, 1935, she married Scott W. Johnson Sr. and he preceded her in death on March 4, 1979.
Surviving are three daughters, Bette Johnson and Laci of Bellefontaine and Darnita "Dee Dee" of Russells Point; two grandsons, Darren Johnson of Bellefontaine and Brett (Amy) Johnson of Kenton; five great-grandchildren, Trevor Mallow, Scott Mallow, Malia Johnson, Caitlin Johnson and Lauren Johnson; a great-great-granddaughter, Morgan Mallow; daughter-in-law, Sharon Johnson of Quincy and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Scott Jr. and Rocky; a grandson, Gary Lee and five brothers.
She was self-employed and owned and operated the former Johnson’s Bottled Gas of Lakeview.

He died at 11:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 12, 1958, in Kenton to Harold and Marilyn (Mullady) Shirk and they survive in Kenton. He married Edith Lansdown and they divorced.
Surviving are a son, Aaron Shirk of Kenton; two daughters, Katie (Michael) Brown of Killeen, Texas and Sarah Shirk of Kenton; three grandchildren; a brother, Tom (Annetta) Shirk of Dunkirk; a sister, Pam (Ike) Hamilton of Kenton and a significant other, M. Lisa Ferguson of Ada.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Shirk.
He worked for Morton Buildings for 31 years.
He was a member of the Kenton Moose Lodge and the Hardin County Draft Horse Association.

He died Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at his home.
He was born July 20, 1931, in Hardin County to Willis A. and Ruth (Emmert) Sponsler. On May 29, 1955, he married Jeannine Bow-man and she preceded him in death on March 2, 2008.
Surviving are a sister, Janice (Adam) Methven of Murrieta, Calif. and eight nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Donn Sponsler.
He was a farmer.
He was a 1949 graduate of Ridgeway High School and attended The Ohio State University.
He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Belle Center and the Bellefontaine Masonic Lodge.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 in Korea.

She died at 5:54 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at Lima Memorial Health System.
She was born Oct. 9, 1939, in Lakeview to William E. and Myrtle Bell (Williams) Chiles. On March 28, 1959, she married Ronald Watt in Lakeview and he survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Ronald A. (Melissa) Watt and Randal C. (Joni) Watt, both of Lakeview and Ronald E. (Tammy) Watt of Lewistown; a daughter, Ronda S. "Susie" (Brian) Trout of Marysville; a brother, Ronald L. Chiles of Lakeview; seven grandchildren a one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a brother, William W. Chiles.
She was a lifelong resident of Lakeview and attended the Waynesfield Baptist Church.
She was employed by Greyhound, working in the Lima office.
She was the former mayor of Lakeview and served on the village council.
She owned and operated Flowers by Marilyn in Waynesfield and Lakeview. She started in the florist business in the early 1960s.
She had been active in politics and was a former member of the Logan County Women’s Democratic Association.
