While stationed in Oran, Algeria, he met his wife Margaret M. Chudzinski. They were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church on March 5, 1946, and settled in Fremont in 1950 to raise their family of eight children. Bill continued his work as a professional meat cutter and former supervisor at Peter Eckrich & Sons, retiring in 1987.

Susan Pert (Carol Cullivan) of Tuscon, Ariz., Jean (Michael) Blechinger of Kenton, Debra (Mark) Mosser and William (Melanie) Pert, both of Fremont, Ellen (Michael) Bohling of Sand Creek, and Mich., Betsy (Cliff) Nelson of Des Moines, Wash. He was known as Poppy to his 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Andrew James Pert; brothers, George and James Pert; and sister, Ann Bjornes.
We will always remember him for his first priority in life, his family. His happiest times were spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His retirement years were spent creating great meals for anyone that came to visit, traveling to see his daughters in Seattle and Arizona and his granddaughters in Colorado, or seeing other parts of the world with Margaret on the QE2 and other cruise ships. He loved to bowl and became a master at the Wii bowling game. His love of a challenge and a bet with the children will be a lasting memory. His Brooklyn accent and sense of humor will be in our hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Memorial Hospital, 430 S. Main St, Clyde, OH
