Services for Vernon A. Wolke will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Ada by the Rev. David Young. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ada.
Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hanson-Neely Funeral Home in Ada, where there will be a prayer service at 8 p.m.
He died at 11:37 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2008, at his home.
He was born June 5, 1923, in Glandorf to Anthony and Mary (Unverferth) Wolke. On Nov. 12, 1946, he married Angela C. Kreinbrink and she preceded him in death on Feb. 14, 1994.
Surviving are four sons, Robert (Beverly) Wolke of Van Wert and Anthony “Tony” (Vicki) Wolke, Mark (Julie) Wolke and Kenneth (Eva) Wolke, all of Ada; two daughters, Rose Ann (John) Hall of Payne and Theresa (James) Bingman of Ada; a special friend, Pauline Bockrath of Kalida; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Odelia Wolke of Ottawa and Dollie Wolke of Delphos.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rita Wolke; three brothers, Cy, Ernest and Thomas Wolke and a sister, Jeanett Stechschulte.
He was a farmer and also worked as a school bus driver and a carpenter.
He was a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and American Legion Post 185 of Ada.
He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps and served during World War II.
